Senior Portfolio Manager
Prior to joining the family investment advisory firm, David Gurun served over six years as a Senior Portfolio Manager at American Beacon Advisors, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of AMR Corporation, parent of American Airlines. At American Beacon, he was responsible for fixed income portfolios totaling approximately $2 billion. Before joining American Beacon, he was a member of the Internal Audit Department at American Airlines. Mr. Gurun received his BA from Baylor University and started his career with the accounting firm of Arthur Anderson & Co. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Texas, a Certified Financial Planner and a Chartered Financial Analyst.
Richard BeattieOffice Manager
Rich Beattie joined Gurun Investment Advisors in August 2005 and is responsible for office operations, business development, and client relations. Mr. Beattie started his career in the oil and gas industry with Tom Brown, Inc. working both in the drilling and production ends of the industry. While at Tom Brown, he served as a financial analyst coordinating communications between the production and accounting departments. Mr. Beattie also served as Vice President of Sales for Attimedia, Inc., an employee relation firm based in Dallas where he was responsible for business development. He also has been a District Manager of School & Library Sales for World Book, Inc. He received his BBA in Finance from Southern Methodist University.
Charles H. “Chick” Martin, CFAVice President

Chick Martin has broad industry experience spending over 30 years with 7-Eleven and Blockbuster, Inc. He returns to the investment and insurance industries where he was previously employed by Mitchell Hutchins and Schneider, Bernet & Hickman (now UBS). He is a Chartered Financial Analyst and an experienced businessman adding valuable diversification to the investment team. Mr. Martin holds a BS from the University of Notre Dame and an MBA from the Stern School of Business (NYU). He currently serves on the John Paul II High School Advisory Council and the Advisory Board of the Museum of Nature & Science. He is also a member of the New York Society of Security Analysts and the CFA Society of Dallas / Ft. Worth.
J.J. LastelickVice President

Mr. Lastelick began working in investments while serving as a sports agent for Pro Player Reps in Dallas representing professional football players. Through the use of strategic investments, he structured NFL player contracts that specifically provided lifetime income streams for his clients. He has subsequently served as a Financial Consultant at Merrill Lynch in Dallas, Texas as well as Vice President of Investments at Salomon Smith Barney in La Jolla, California with an emphasis on private portfolio management. He earned his BBA from the University of San Diego with a focus on Economics. His responsibilities for Gurun Investment Advisors, Inc. include client relations, financial planning and investment management.
James R. RuffingVice President

Jim Ruffing joined Gurun Investment Advisors, Inc. in 1999 as Vice President, Director of Sales. He is responsible for business development and client relations. Mr. Ruffing has over 40 years of institutional fixed income sales experience including Manager of Institutional Sales for Merrill Lynch in Dallas, Office Manager for Bankers Trust in Dallas, and nine years in institutional sales at Dean Witter. Mr. Ruffing was instrumental in the establishment of the Montessori Society where he served on the Board of Directors and as President and Chairman. He received his BS from John Carroll University and his MBA from Case Western Reserve University.
